At the Jan. 8 meeting village staff announced two technology and youth-focused initiatives.
Assistant village administrator Jennifer Maltas said the Village of Glendale Heights and the Leisure Services Department launched new websites that are "fully ADA accessible, mobile friendly, and are designed to provide the user with a smooth and functional experience," and provided URLs (www.glendaleheights.org and www.ghrec.org) and staff contact numbers for questions.
Representatives from the DuPage County Area Project (DUCAF) introduced themselves to the board. Chris Billingsley, identified as "community engagement director" for DUCAF, said the group specializes in youth initiatives and community engagement and described two upcoming events: "crochet and cookies," aimed at surprising younger participants, in early February, and an "internship for the day" program that will let Glendale Heights High School students job-shadow local professionals.
Billingsley provided DUCAP's website (ducap.org) for more information and thanked the mayor, the Glendale Heights Chamber and village staff for support in 2025. Mayor Giannelli said the village is partnering with DUCAF to establish a student leadership summit to help ensure equitable access to resources for Glendale Heights students.
These announcements were presented as informational items; no votes or expenditures were approved for these initiatives during the meeting.
