Gibraltar Design presented final plans for the final phase of the district’s bond project, showing renderings and a construction timeline for the natatorium infill, gymnastics area and a new fitness center.
Daniel Burns and the Gibraltar team walked trustees through designs that will fill the old pool with a concrete slab to create a gymnastics area, add insulation and new interior finishes where the exterior wall was previously uninsulated, expand the weight room into existing cardio space, and complete finishes and mechanical upgrades in the new fitness center and field house connectors. The design includes LED lighting upgrades, acoustic treatment and a new sound system for the field house.
On schedule: Gibraltar told the board it will issue front-end bid documents and expects to start construction June 1 with substantial completion in July. The firm emphasized phasing and logistics to protect recently paved areas and coordinate early work in shell spaces to avoid damage to finishes.
Why it matters: The project repurposes existing underused space to provide new athletics and fitness facilities for students and community use while seeking to keep the bond program on budget.
Next steps: Staff will issue bid documents and hold a mandatory pre-bid walkthrough; the board will consider awarding contracts in February so construction can proceed on the proposed timetable.
