The St. Helens Parks & Trails Commission handled several administrative items during its Jan. 12 meeting.

The commission approved the previous meeting’s minutes by voice vote. Members then debated the tradition of rotating the chair and vice chair positions; after discussion a motion to elect Howard as chair and Paul as vice chair was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Commissioners noted that the vice chair position will move into the chair role in future cycles per the group’s practice.

Later in the meeting the commission approved a nonbinding motion directing members to visit Breaklifts Park individually and report observations at the next meeting. Several administrative follow-ups were assigned to staff, including marking completed master-plan items and preparing materials for council review.
