″The approved donation for the library programming for next year is $31,915, which is the most that they've ever given for programming,″ Library Director Corey Burkel said. She added the amount represents about 4% of the foundation’s total funds.
Burkel described two active fundraising efforts: a recipe book featuring contributions from local restaurants—proposed as a paid-entry model where restaurants pay to include a recipe to cover publication costs—and a story-slam style fundraiser modeled on a successful event run by the foundation president at her alma mater. Burkel said the recipe-book working title was “a taste of Newberg” but that the name would likely change.
The director said the foundation is excited about both projects and that organizers plan community partnerships, including a George Fox professor and students helping with layout and design for the cookbook. The donation and fundraising plans were presented as operational updates; there was no formal board vote on foundation actions during this meeting.
