Village of Ballston Spa swears in new justice and two trustees; mayor names liaisons

Julie Casetos was sworn in as justice of the Village of Ballston Spa Village Court at the board's organizational meeting on Jan. 1, taking the oath administered by Judge Walsh.
"Do solemnly swear and affirm that I will support the constitution of The United States and the constitution of the state of New York," Casetos recited during the oath and pledged to "faithfully discharge the duties of the justice of the Village of Ballston Spa Village Court according to the best of my abilities." (Judge Walsh administered the oath.)
The board also swore in two trustees: Charlene Dubuque and Paul Dunkelbarger. Dubuque thanked residents for voting and said she looked forward to serving for the next four years; Dunkelbarger likewise thanked supporters and said he looked forward to working with the board.
After the oath ceremonies and a brief photo recess, the mayor announced mayoral liaison assignments, naming trustees to serve as liaisons to public works, fire, police, parks and tree board, planning and zoning, historic district commission, emergency management, the library and other advisory bodies. The mayor said the appointments "will serve at the pleasure of the mayor" and outlined which trustees would cover specific departments and committees.
The swearing-in and liaison announcements set the board's administrative structure for 2026 and preceded a series of consent agenda votes and contract approvals later in the meeting.
The board recessed briefly for photos and resumed to conduct the rest of its organizational business.
