The Transportation, Energy and Utilities Committee of the Jacksonville City Council voted 6-0 Dec. 2 to adopt an amendment and approve bill 2025-0833, the committee chair said.
The measure concerns agenda item 120250833, a boundary amendment related to a 25.7-acre parcel at the southeast corner of Braddock Road and Lehi Turner Road intended for future commercial development. The chair noted the item had been reviewed by the city’s planning department and that a public hearing was held at the previous council meeting.
The committee first voted to adopt an amendment. After a motion and second, the chair called for voices on the amendment and announced, "Amendment passes." The committee then moved and seconded the bill as amended, opened the ballot and recorded the vote as "6 yeas, 0 nays." The chair said, "By our actions, we have passed 20 25 0 8 3 3." The chair also thanked "Mister Rheingold and team" for attending in case questions arose.
The committee took less than 10 minutes on the item and adjourned after brief concluding remarks. The measure cleared the committee on a unanimous vote; the committee noted prior vetting by city planning and the prior public hearing as part of the record.
