The Winter Haven City Commission read a proclamation recognizing Jan. 19, 2026 as Martin Luther King Jr. Day and invited representatives of the MLK steering committee forward to accept it.

A committee representative outlined a schedule of events for MLK Week organized by the city and partners: a children’s story time at the Winter Haven Library, a free screening of the film Marshall at the Winter Haven Ritz, a wreath‑laying ceremony at MLK Park, a unity luncheon at Normaio Hall to honor local civic leaders, the annual parade and a community breakfast. The speaker asked residents to participate and observe Dr. King’s legacy through service.

The city manager encouraged attendance at city‑hosted MLK events and noted city offices will be closed Monday in observance of the holiday.
