The Jim Wells County Commissioners Court on Jan. 9 approved routine business including previous minutes and consent agenda items, and reappointed officers to Emergency Services District No. 1.

The court voted to reappoint Patrick Carter as vice president, Karen Canale as treasurer and Matthew Smith as assistant treasurer to ESD No. 1, with terms cited in the meeting as running from Jan. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2027. A court member confirmed each appointee had agreed to serve before the motion was called and the motion carried by voice vote.

The approvals were handled on the consent docket and drew no extended discussion. The court moved on after the votes to the next agenda items.
