Commissioners discussed the practical effects, including that a physical quorum is still required in many circumstances and that the statute includes a sunset provision.
A motion to adopt the resolution was made and seconded; the commission approved it by voice vote.
Cleveland cautioned that while the policy provides flexibility for members who must be absent for covered reasons, commissioners should consider the effect of remote participation on contentious votes and public perception. The commission did not indicate plans to use the option immediately.
