McLeod County approved two customer value service agreements with Ziegler Companies on Jan. 6 covering generators at the Government Center and Courthouse for 2026–2028.
The Government Center agreement covers a larger unit at a total cost of $16,481.58 billed annually in equal installments; the Courthouse unit agreement totals $10,517.01. Staff said each contract reflects a 5% increase over the previous contract and locks pricing for three years.
Commissioners questioned warranty coverage after recent seal failures and were told the service agreement covers routine maintenance — oil changes, filters, load testing and some components such as batteries and hoses — but is not a warranty that covers wear items like engine seals. "This is a service maintenance agreement…it's really not gonna cover wear items," said a member of the board during discussion. Despite the concern, commissioners voted to approve both agreements.
The agreements were approved by motion and voice vote. Building maintenance staff said the service schedule includes annual load testing intended to help engine maintenance and pledged to monitor items not covered by the service agreement.
