Board approves consent agenda including donations, personnel changes and coach appointments

The Canal Winchester School Board approved its consent agenda at the Jan. 12 meeting, which included minutes from December meetings, three donations, several personnel actions and coaching appointments.

Superintendent Kaya Hunt described consent items that the board approved by motion: minutes from December 8, 18 and 30; two donations from the CW Performing Arts Group to the high-school drama and choir programs and a donation to the Canal Winchester Marching Band; certified and classified personnel resignations; recommended hires for an evening custodian and a credit-recovery aide; substitute-classified recommendations including a substitute bus driver; supplemental personnel and stipend adjustments and the practice of approving coaches and advisers in May to cover summer coaching assignments; approval of assistant high-school baseball coaches and an assistant theater director; and three early-graduation requests.

The board moved and seconded the consent agenda and the chair recorded the motion as carried. No substantive discussion or public comment was recorded on these items during the meeting.

The approvals were procedural and did not include detailed roll-call tallies in the public transcript beyond the chair's announcement that the motion carried. Items such as rescinded supplemental contracts and the district's updated timing for approving supplementals were explained as part of the consent description.
