At the Nov. 17 meeting the Smithfield City Council approved the Oct. 15, 2025 meeting minutes by roll-call vote. The council then moved to consider volunteer appointments: John Meyer introduced himself and his background in real estate and was approved to serve on the Planning Commission; Jeff Strait and Russell Smart were both approved to serve on the Historical Preservation Commission after brief introductions and endorsements.
Council members thanked the volunteers and noted the importance of citizen service on commissions and committees. Appointment start dates and orientation were discussed informally; John Meyer was told he would begin the following Wednesday.
These items were approved by motion and roll-call vote and recorded in the meeting minutes.
