The Waynesboro City Council completed its annual organizational business and routine appointments at the start of its Jan. 12 meeting, reappointing charter officers, selecting an acting clerk and approving the consent agenda.
Mayor (speaker 1) announced reappointments for the city assessor, city clerk and city attorney and the council approved a single motion to reappoint those charter officers by voice vote. Council then voted to appoint an acting clerk of the council for a one-year term ending 12/31/2026; the acting clerk will serve when the clerk is absent. Council also approved one-year council representative assignments to multiple boards and commissions (including planning and parks/recreation) and reappointed Brienne Lawrence, PhD, to the Social Services Advisory Board for a four-year term ending 09/30/2029.
The council adopted the evening’s meeting agenda and approved the consent agenda by voice votes; the minutes record the outcomes as unanimous (5–0) on the motions recorded. No ordinances, budget appropriations, or conditional approvals were taken in these agenda items.
