Sugar Grove trustees approve consent agenda, move to executive session; president says The Grove litigation is on appeal

The Village of Sugar Grove board approved its consent agenda on Jan. 6, 2026, which included the Dec. 16, 2025 meeting minutes and vouchers. A motion to approve was made, seconded and trustees recorded "Aye" during roll call; President Stilwell announced the consent agenda approved.
During public comment, residents asked for an update on The Grove project. Jamie Coase asked whether information was posted on the village website and referenced recent news coverage and a school district lawsuit. President Stilwell replied, "Caitlin did appeal the lawsuit," and said because litigation is pending the village could not provide further public detail at this time.
Staff reports included a statement from Scott Koppel, who said his report was in the meeting packet and offered to answer questions. Trustees and attendees also noted water department recognition and library programs, including science kits and Friends of the Library activities.
The board then moved into executive session to discuss personnel (citing "5 ILCS 1 22 c 1") and litigation (citing "5 ILCS 1 22 c 11") and adjourn afterward; a roll call was taken and the meeting proceeded into executive session.
