The Mid-Del (Midwest City-Del City) School Board voted to approve three separate land sale agreements on Tuesday.
The board approved a sale to Monroe Homes LLC for a vacant lot located between a McDonald's and the district technology center; a staff member said the property had been on the market for years and the accepted offer was the only recent bid. The board also approved sale of a lot at 36 In Schroeder in Forest Park to Kimberly Jackson; staff noted the buyer intends to build a house.
The most-discussed transaction involved the former Jarman Middle School property. A district presenter described the winning bidder, Big Easy Farm, Inc., as a Tecumseh-based nonprofit classified as a military and veterans organization that told staff it intends to use the site as a veterans community center. Trustees asked whether environmental liabilities (for example, asbestos) would transfer with sale; staff said the buyer would assume responsibility and that the transaction includes a 60-day target close from signature.
Board members raised questions about appraisal and fair-market valuation; staff said the district had listed properties to seek offers and received the only acceptable purchase attempts in recent years. Several motions to approve were moved, seconded and passed without recorded roll-call tallies in the minutes.
No conditions or specific funding contingencies were recorded on the record; staff said the buyer for the Jarman property indicated funding was available but described that as alleged or not fully verified during the meeting.
