The Punxsutawney Area School District board heard an extended presentation about Hudl, a sports-video and analytics platform, and its potential to livestream and archive school sporting events.

An unidentified district presenter described the district’s current Hudl subscriptions for three teams and proposed an athletics-wide package covering all teams, Hudl Assist analytics, and campus-mounted cameras. Staff said the district currently pays roughly $4,800 for limited team subscriptions and proposed an annual athletics package priced at $8,500; a two-camera installation for gym and stadium was quoted at $9,900. Because the district already has partial-year service, the vendor quoted a prorated amount to carry the district through June of $1,574 if the board signs on immediately.

Board members asked whether Hudl would conflict with PIAA or state streaming contracts for postseason games, how long footage is retained, how opponents access film, and what training would be required for coaches and technical staff. The presenter said Hudl can be configured for live and archived access, the platform stores games for a limited season window useful to coaches, and Hudl staff provide remote setup and coach training.

The presentation also highlighted Hudl Assist analytics (player and play breakdowns), a digital ticketing option that would allow the district to sell event tickets online, and possible revenue or fee-sharing arrangements from ticket sales. Staff said the package includes mounted cameras, software tools for coaches and families, and remote technical support; they described potential uses beyond athletics, such as band recordings and school events.

Board members asked staff to place the contract and a recommended term (members discussed two- and three-year options) on the next voting agenda so the board can consider a formal contract; no final contract was approved at this meeting.
