The St. Marys City Council convened for its organizational meeting and swore in a newly elected member, approved resolutions honoring outgoing councilors and filled leadership and clerk roles.

James Johnson took the oath of office, stating, "I am James Johnson," and repeated the oath to support the constitutions of the United States and the state of Ohio and to discharge the duties of his office for the City of Saint Mary's.

The council unanimously passed Resolution 20 26 01, expressing appreciation for Daniel S. Uhlenhay for his multiple terms and committee service, and Resolution 20 25 20 26 02 thanking Erin C. Chilery for her service from January through December 2025. Both resolutions were read aloud and approved by voice vote.

In nominations for council leadership, Mister Chrisman nominated Bob Fitzgerald for president pro tem, a nomination seconded by Mister Acuero; the council approved the nomination.

For administrative staff, Deb Cable was nominated and appointed Clerk of Council by unanimous vote. The council also voted to keep the clerk's salary unchanged for the coming term. Aaron Buchanan was nominated and approved as an alternate clerk to serve when the clerk is unavailable.

The meeting closed these organizational items before moving to routine reports and other business.
