The next phases would include right-of-way acquisition, utilities and construction; staff indicated a concept is available for council review. Council voted to adopt a resolution showing support for the funding application.
Staff also said the city received additional Georgia Department of Transportation funding that allows acceleration of the street maintenance program. The council approved the proposed streets list; staff said a detailed pavement assessment update is underway with a tentative schedule for March and that the LMIG (local maintenance improvement grant) application deadline is Feb. 1.
What happens next: city staff will submit the ARC funding support documentation for the Jefferson Street project and file the LMIG/other applications by the stated deadlines; the pavement assessment will inform future phases.
