The Moab Tourism Advisory Board voted unanimously on Jan. 13 to form a first subcommittee comprised of Howard, Cora and Jason and to postpone selection of a second subcommittee until a later meeting.

Board members debated whether to assign volunteers or ask for volunteers for the second wave of subcommittee members. Speaker 3 moved the initial plan and called the vote; Speaker 3 later announced, "It's unanimous." The board amended a motion proposed by Speaker 7 to name the first subcommittee and to leave the second group to be determined, with no prohibition on prior members serving on the second committee.

Board members said volunteers were preferable to assignments and noted that only two people had volunteered at the time of the vote. Speaker 6 suggested waiting another meeting to finalize the second group; Speaker 3 said the board could reconvene the selection process at the next meeting if needed.

The board recorded the decision as a formal action and agreed to revisit the second subcommittee at a future meeting. No roll-call vote with individual names and recorded votes was included in the transcript of the meeting; the motion was described as carried unanimously.

The board also noted other calendar items and encouraged members to attend related meetings, including an airport meeting tied to essential air service decisions on Jan. 23.
