Mayor Curtis provided the committee an update on American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds and deadlines, saying the city is working to get allocated dollars out and documented. "The end of this month we'll have the fourth quarter report that's due on January 31," Curtis said, and staff are contacting program partners to gather the necessary paperwork.
Curtis cited work with the County Justice Academy (paperwork outstanding) and a program from District 111 led by Dr. Lance that would use ARPA-allocated student wages to pay participating students' wages while partnering with the YMCA and Riverside Hospital. Curtis said the city will prioritize projects that can be completed quickly so funds can be expended and closed out before the Dec. 31 deadline, ideally by Nov. 30 to leave a month for final paperwork.
No formal ARPA allocations or approvals were voted on during the meeting; the update was informational and focused on next steps for documentation and partner coordination. The city manager, not present at the meeting, will continue compiling the quarter report and coordinating with state and local partners to ensure backup documentation is in place for disbursements.
