Town administrator Eddie briefed commissioners on a phone and power outage over New Year’s (about 36 hours), thanked staff for response, and scheduled an internal after-action review for Jan. 16; the town has requested a follow-up meeting with BGE but BGE has not yet scheduled one.
Town Administrator Eddie told the Board of Town Commissioners on Tuesday that a phone and power outage around New Year’s Eve produced approximately 36 hours of service interruption and prompted an immediate town response. Eddie thanked IT staff and first responders and said staff identified workable redundancies as well as vulnerabilities.
Eddie said he had asked Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) for a meeting to determine causes but that BGE has not scheduled a joint review yet; the county has also requested a meeting with BGE. "They are not prepared to discuss it yet. The matter is still under investigation," Eddie said.
The town will hold an internal after-action review on Jan. 16 to examine continuity-of-operations plans and possible technology and budget adjustments. Commissioners were invited to attend the daytime meeting.
Eddie also briefly reminded commissioners about Banner City outreach (a fourth-grade 'If I Were Mayor' contest) and distributed the Local Health Improvement Coalition’s suicide-prevention PowerPoint and a flyer about an early-February workshop.
