NH committee recommends ITL on resolution urging counties to form coed leagues

The House Municipal and County Government Committee on Jan. 13 recommended inexpedient to legislate (ITL) on House Resolution 31, which asked New Hampshire counties to establish coed sports leagues.
Representative Brian Morse, the prime sponsor, said the measure was intended to "encourage but not mandate counties" to help towns form voluntary inter‑county competitions. The committee’s executive session motion to ITL, moved by Representative Maggiore, passed by a roll call of 14–0.
Supporters framed the resolution as a low‑cost way to foster community interaction. Opponents and at least one committee member said organizing recreational leagues is typically a municipal or nongovernmental function and beyond county scope. Representative Maggiore said the proposal "is not the purview of counties to create sports leagues." The committee placed the resolution on the consent calendar with the ITL recommendation.
