Madison City Council approves minutes, delays president pro tem vote and confirms board appointments

The Madison City Council on Tuesday approved minutes from its Dec. 16, 2025 meeting, delayed a scheduled vote on the president pro tem position for one meeting and confirmed four board appointments.
A councilmember identified in the audio as Speaker 2 moved "I move to, accept the minutes as presented." The motion was seconded and carried with affirmative responses on the record. The council then agreed to postpone the president pro tem election for one meeting after Speaker 2 moved to delay the vote "one more meeting" and said they would continue as president in the interim; that motion was seconded and approved.
The council considered board appointments next. Speaker 2 moved to accept nominations that included Jim Bartlett for PACE and Visit Madison/Board of Tourism and Gail Spalding for the Economic Development Commission. The motion was seconded and carried; the clerk recorded the vote with verbal "Aye" responses and no opposition was noted on the audio.
The meeting record shows Jim Bartlett was absent for roll call earlier in the session. No members of the public spoke during the meeting’s public-comment period.
The council adjourned after routine business and set its next meeting for Tuesday, Jan. 20.
