Commission approves $40,000 amendment for connector-trail services; staff updates Riverton lofts, Heritage Trail and Welch Park bids

Madison City Redevelopment Commission members voted to approve Amendment No. 1 to a professional services agreement for the connector trail, authorizing an additional $40,000 for design and inspection services with "Jacoby Toombs and Lands," staff said at the Jan. 13 meeting.

Redevelopment staff member Tony told the commission the connector-trail project came in under the original bid and removing a geogrid system freed up funds to provide additional services: "we are going to be doing some ad services and looking at, paving the trail from 2nd Street to Vaughn and Vernon, as well as making some improvements to the parking at Vaughn and Vernon and a new trailhead there," he said. The commission approved Amendment No. 1 by voice vote after a motion and second.

Staff also updated members on several other projects. Geotechnical work for the Riverton Loft site is complete and results will be shared with finalists; four development proposals were received and initial interviews with developers were scheduled for Jan. 22 with representation from the mayor's office (Joe Craig) and city council (Lucy Datillo). Tony reported active work on the Heritage Trail, including recent concrete pours and compacted bridal, and said staff will coordinate repairs to a historic viaduct with the Mazin Port Authority. Finally, bids for Welch Park are due Jan. 20; staff said three addenda have been issued during the procurement process.

The motion to approve the $40,000 amendment passed by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the transcript.
