At its Jan. 13 meeting, the Madison City Redevelopment Commission reviewed an updated financial report that incorporated a two-year pledge to the school corporation for an early learning center. Redevelopment staff member Tony told commissioners the plan includes "$140,000 in this year and a $140,000 in next year."
Several board members pressed staff about reconciling cash balances and disbursements across years. Tony explained that some disbursements remain in the prior fiscal-year category because the clerk's office had not completed the year-end close; "It's a timing issue on how those are getting paid," he said, and staff committed to produce a comprehensive 2025 recap at the February meeting to clarify the numbers.
Tony also outlined reserve projections, saying the commission expects roughly $1.7 million at the end of the current year and about $272,000 projected at the end of 2027, while noting much of those funds are allocated to housing projects that are not yet fully defined. Board discussion focused on clarity in reporting and on ensuring members can trace where approved expenditures flow into the presented financial spreadsheets.
