County staff recommend awarding annual resurfacing bid to East Alabama Paving after single bid received
Summary
Highway staff told the commission that five contractors were invited and the bid advertised; only one proposal — from East Alabama Paving — was received (opened Oct. 16), and staff recommended awarding the county's annual resurfacing and dirt-road paving work to that firm.

County highway staff reported results of the annual resurfacing bid at the Lee County Commission work session and recommended awarding the contract to East Alabama Paving.
Staff said they mailed bid packages to five contractors, posted the solicitation on the county and ACCA websites for three consecutive weeks, and opened bids on Oct. 16. Only one bid was received, from East Alabama Paving, a local contractor the county has used previously. Staff recommended acceptance of that bid to allow resurfacing and the dirt‑road paving program to proceed when roads are selected by the commission.
Commissioners did not record a formal vote in the work-session transcript. Staff noted this bid covers final wearing surfaces after right-of-way and preparatory work is performed; the earlier full-depth reclamation (FDR) bid had been awarded to D and J (noted by staff as previously approved). There were no questions recorded that changed the staff recommendation during the work session.
