Council confirms appointments, continues hospital‑sale discussion and approves joint‑pole location and tax abatements

North Providence — At its Jan. 6 meeting the Town Council approved multiple board appointments and reappointments, continued discussion of the sale of Our Lady of Fatima Hospital to February given an upcoming Jan. 15 deadline, approved a petition for a joint pole location on Coleman and Bridal streets, and voted to accept lists of tax abatements and uncollectible abatements.
Appointments included reappointments to the personnel board, housing authority and board of tax review, and new and reappointment actions for the historic district commission and zoning board. The council approved sending claims to the claims committee for further review. The sale of Our Lady of Fatima Hospital was continued to February to allow more information about a pending deadline.
The council adjourned following acceptance of the ordinance committee report and routine votes.
