Several residents used the Jan. 13 public-comment period to press the board on local enforcement, utilities and volunteer programs.
Patricia Burns urged the commissioners "to pass a resolution to keep these sanctioned mass marauders known as ICE out of Cobb," framing her plea as a protection for immigrant neighbors and a broader community safety concern.
Catherine Haytoo told the board she has experienced problems with Cobb County water billing after a portal change: "The bills have been exuberant. We can't get proper customer service... we're not able to migrate what they had in the old portal to the new portal so that we are able to check our bills." She asked what the county is doing about a '1.7 rate' that she said affects many residents.
Denny Wilson, a Master Gardener from District 4, requested a sign to identify the Master Gardeners Volunteers of Cobb County at the Extension office on South Cobb Drive; county staff said a Public Services representative (Dr. Gibson) would connect with him before he left.
Donald Barth criticized downtown parking and questioned the use of county funds for downtown projects and the Veterans Memorial, urging fundraising and outreach rather than relying solely on SPLOST revenues.
The chair and staff acknowledged the comments and directed relevant departments to follow up including water systems and public services; no board action on the ICE request was recorded during the meeting.
