Deputy County Manager Bill Volkmann told the board Jan. 13 that the county will use nine community education and engagement sessions to solicit public feedback on a draft Cobb County 2028 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) project list.

"This is a preliminary list to solicit feedback and gain support and educate the community on what the county is initially thinking, but the final list will be approved by the board of commissioners on April 28," Volkmann said. He asked the board to approve the proposed list for the purposes of community education and engagement; the board approved the item 5-0.

Volkmann said the county will solicit feedback at public meetings and on the county website and that staff will authorize corresponding budget transactions and documents in support of the outreach effort. Commissioners and staff said they anticipate revisiting additional projects if future revenue projections remain strong.

Next steps: county staff will host nine community meetings and post materials online ahead of the April 28 final board decision.
