"We have been putting updates out there in terms of where we are with our priorities," Dr. Sorensen said during the presentation, describing PMOC as a structure to "monitor initiative progress, balance accountability with support, and provide unifying structures" so the district completes commitments made to the community.
The superintendent listed the district's five strategic priorities — excellence in leadership; empowered graduates; thriving students; community trust, unity and partnership; and operational excellence and financial stability — and identified executive sponsors and initiative owners for specific projects. She said cabinet will approve project plans by the end of the week and the first PMOC meeting is scheduled for February.
Dr. Sorensen said PMOC is intended as an internal performance-management process in which initiative owners present monthly and cabinet members ask probing questions. She also announced a public strategic-plan dashboard will be launched late this spring to make initiative status and metrics transparent to the community.
Board members asked whether PMOC sessions would include public presentations; Dr. Sorensen said the meetings are primarily internal but invited trustees to attend. She told the board that finalized projects and implementation timelines will be shared with the board and community in spring 2026, with a likely public presentation in late April.
The presentation also highlighted connections to other work the district is doing, including project teams and progress measures that will feed into PMOC reporting. Dr. Sorensen emphasized the goal of turning initiative plans into measurable milestones and tracking progress over a three-year horizon.
The board did not take formal action on the strategic-plan update; the administration said it will return with finalized project plans and public dashboard access later in the spring.
