The Suffolk City Council approved a motion to enter a closed session to consider appointments and candidate interviews under the state legal exception for personnel matters.
Pursuant to Virginia Code §2.2-3711(A)(1), the City Attorney read the closed-meeting motion listing the specific bodies whose appointments would be considered, including the Early Childhood Development Commission, the Economic Development Authority, the Human Services Advisory Board, the Local Board of Building Code Appeals, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission, the Planning Council, the Tidewater Youth Services Commission and the Wetlands Board, and to discuss the appointment of the city manager.
Council Member Butler Barlow moved to approve the closed-meeting motion and Council Member Williams seconded. The motion passed by a vote of 8 to 0. The council adjourned the work session and said it would reconvene at 6 p.m.
