Commissioners approve Attorney General grant for patrol vehicles and firearms-range improvements

The Rogers County commissioners approved acceptance and administration of an Attorney General grant to fund new patrol vehicles and construction work at the county firearms range.
Staff told the board the grant is the second-year award from the Attorney General’s office and could be used both to procure patrol vehicles and to complete construction of a previously started firearms-range tower. "I had an estimate, from Green Construction about 2 years ago at about $98,000," staff said, noting that foundation, sidewalks, electrical and plumbing work for the tower had been poured and stubbed during earlier phases. Staff added that some vehicle purchases have already been made in anticipation of the grant.
Separately, the board awarded a previously tabled low bid for the firearms range project itself to Mike Gibson Manufacturing Inc. for $18,186.25 after staff said two bids met qualifications.
Commissioners approved acceptance and execution of the AG grant and the bid award; staff said remaining grant funds could conceivably purchase additional vehicles and help complete tower construction. Staff indicated they would return to the board with further details as work progresses.
