Summary
City staff said the ARPA small-business support program distributed $350,000 to 48 Richmond businesses; the Richmond Housing Authority said it is negotiating a disposition and development agreement for Phase 1 of a 100-unit Richmond Village replacement and preparing required environmental studies.
Antoinette Terrell, introducing herself as executive director of the Richmond Housing Authority, provided economic-development and housing updates to the RNCC on Jan. 12.
Terrell said the ARPA small-business support program completed distribution of $350,000 in grants that assisted 48 Richmond businesses and that an Island Triangle/Santa Fe/Coronado small-business facade-improvement program is now open for eligible businesses. She noted ongoing business-support appointments and the McDonald Avenue corridor task force seeking community input on revitalization.
On housing, Terrell said the Richmond Housing Authority has negotiated exclusive rights to negotiate and is negotiating a disposition and development agreement for Phase 1 of a 100-unit replacement at Richmond Village and is preparing environmental studies for the property as an early compliance step. She also said Nevin Plaza Phase 1 construction is complete and units are actively leasing.
Terrell urged residents to consult the city website for program details and application information for advisory committees and small-business supports.
Next steps: environmental studies will proceed for the Richmond Village Phase 1 negotiation and staff will continue outreach about business and port/real-estate updates.
