District staff presented a proposed 2627 school calendar that would begin student instruction on Aug. 31 and end on June 10, yielding 180 student days and 192 staff days. Staff said the calendar includes a seven‑day winter recess and adds a half‑day before Thanksgiving (both Nov. 20 and Nov. 21 listed as half days) to facilitate first‑trimester parent conferences.
Staff said the calendar was developed in consultation with the PEA bargaining unit and the two sending districts to the technical school to align conference scheduling and reduce inter‑district conflicts. A board member confirmed that half days count toward the required days or hours under Pennsylvania law and that the district meets the 180‑day requirement.
The calendar was reviewed during the personnel committee and will be carried forward for additional review and formal action along the committee/board timeline.
