Run the Lights announces Project Grown Meats, seeks industrial sites; says USDA-licensed facility planned

Justin Snow, president and CEO of Run the Lights, updated the Roane County Commission on local economic development projects and upcoming community events.
Snow said "Project Grown Meats," a small meat-processing venture, closed on property in Rockwood on Dec. 22 and aims to begin construction later this spring or early summer. He said the planned facility intends to process meat from local farmers and would operate under USDA inspection.
Snow told commissioners the project anticipates processing about six to eight animals per day on-site and will include a retail component. He also said he and partners are exploring two additional industrial properties — a 130-acre site and a 15-acre site — to replenish the county’s inventory of available industrial land and could return to the commission to request funding to purchase additional property.
The commission thanked Snow for the update and noted the projects support local job creation and industrial redevelopment.
