Andrew, a city staff member, told the council the parcel is currently zoned General Commercial in unincorporated Whitfield County, is entirely surrounded by Dalton's corporate limits, and that planning staff and the planning commission recommended approval unanimously. "As we discussed on Monday, this is a fairly straightforward annexation request," Andrew said.
Presiding Official called for questions and, hearing none, entertained a motion to approve the ordinance. The council voted by voice to approve the second reading; no opposition was recorded on the transcript. There was no public comment on the item.
The ordinance identifies the parcel as Parcel 12-159-01-129. The council's approval at second reading moves the annexation forward under the city process; no additional changes to zoning or site plan were recorded in the meeting minutes. The council adjourned after completing the item.
