Council heard extended public comment on the proposed Columbus Growth Strategy on Jan. 12, with two area commission representatives urging changes and city planning staff responding that more engagement and technical follow‑ups are coming.
Ben Keith, zoning committee chair for the North Linden Area Commission, told council that his commission generally supports the strategy’s goals but that “most of our requested changes were not incorporated or even responded to.” He urged three specific fixes: a 60‑day review period for significant development proposals; increasing density from “mixed use 2” to “mixed use 3” near the Ohio State Fairgrounds; and stricter guidance to reduce light and noise impacts from higher‑intensity developments.
