The Grant County Board of Commissioners elected Shane Middlesworth as board president and Ron Sticker as vice president during a Jan. 5, 2026 regular session.

Commissioner Polling nominated Middlesworth and Commissioner Stewart seconded the nomination. The board took a voice vote; the motion carried with one abstention on the presidency nomination. Polling then nominated Ron Sticker for vice president; that nomination carried on a voice vote with no recorded opposition.

The board also read and approved its 2026 staffing appointments. The slate approved by motion included Kevin Hicks as Public Safety Director; Bob Jackson as Emergency Management (EMA) Director; Beth Winters as county administrator and human resources director; Marcus Elliott as IT director; Jeffrey Kilgren as Veterans Affairs Officer (one-year appointment); Mike Simison as maintenance director; Mark Fleming for weights and measures; Don Harness as EMS director; David White as highway superintendent; and Marty Harker as county attorney. The board approved the staffing slate by voice vote.

Ed Ormsby was introduced as the county's assistant attorney and provided a brief biography noting prior experience in municipal and transactional law. The board also appointed Ed Hartman to the Area Planning Commission earlier in the meeting.
