Jefferson County Board re-elects William Johnson as chair, approves appointments and budget amendments

William Johnson was elected chairman of the Jefferson County Board of Legislators during the board's organizational session and was sworn into office by County Clerk Giselle Meeks. The board also elected Pat Jarrell as vice chair, approved a series of departmental appointments, adopted standing rules and passed two budget amendments, including a reappropriation of federal community-development funds and an adjustment to the 2026 capital plan for highway equipment.

The leadership votes began after the clerk called the meeting to order and completed roll call. Legislator Ronageli nominated William Johnson for chairman; the nomination received a second and carried by voice vote. County Clerk Giselle Meeks administered the oath.
