Forecast model shows rapid Charlotte County growth; planners warn of shortfalls in shopping centers and facilities

A consultant update presented to the Charlotte County Commission on April 22 shows unusually rapid growth since mid-2023. David Farmer of Metro Forecasting Models reported the county has added roughly 11,000 housing units and about 23,000 residents in roughly 20 months and projects another ~17,000 housing units by 2030.
