Jackson County reviews Rebuild Alabama annual report and readies road prioritization

County Public Works staff presented Jackson County's annual Rebuild Alabama report and Federal Land Exchange Fund accounting, saying the report mirrors the county transportation plan and lists project status and monetary values for each approved project.

Staff said only one project — County Road 2 — is not fully complete; the remaining work involves markings, legends, stropping and pavement markers, after which the project will be closed out. The presentation included percent‑complete and monetary columns as required by the program.

Commissioners discussed the need for a special road work session to revisit the county's road evaluation list and prioritize roughly a 10‑mile paving program. Staff said they would rework the list, present recommendations, and that there will be more candidate projects than available funding.
