Sawyer said the service is intended as an additional option to in‑person interpreters and "is not going to replace our interpreters," a point Miss Miller emphasized.
Pascoe and other staff explained the pilot will be individualized — used with a limited group of students to evaluate suitability in the classroom — and will require training for paraeducators, teachers and building technology support. The pilot is planned to help staff and the board evaluate the device's classroom fit and to gather pricing information for any future contract; Sawyer said details such as bundled‑minute pricing and monthly fees would be clarified in a future contract negotiation if the district pursues the service after the pilot.
