Chair Batista opened the Mountlake Terrace Planning Commission’s Jan. 12 meeting and presided over a series of routine procedural actions, including the election of officers and an approved excused absence.
The commission moved to excuse Commissioner Thompson from the meeting after a motion and second. Chair Batista called for the yeas, and the motion carried; no opposition was recorded. Following roll call, commissioners approved the Dec. 22, 2025 meeting minutes as presented.
Commissioners then nominated and voted on leadership for 2026. ‘‘I nominate Chair Batista,’’ a commissioner said; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Commissioners confirmed Vice Chair Betcher would serve again after a separate nomination and second. Both officer elections were approved by the commissioners present.
The votes were procedural and required only a voice vote; the chair declared each motion carried. The commission moved on to substantive agenda items after completing those opening actions.
