Greer council fills board vacancies and elects Jay Arrowood mayor pro tem

The Greer City Council on Jan. 13 approved a slate of appointments and elected a mayor pro tem following nominations from council members.
Council received a resignation for Jeremiah McKee from the Board of Zoning Appeals (District 2) effective Nov. 24, 2025. Councilmember Corian Booker nominated Dawn Zabel to fill the vacancy; the motion was seconded and the council approved the nomination by roll call.
Councilmember Paul Lamb nominated Lynn Mahaffey to the Planning Commission; that nomination also passed following a second and roll-call vote.
Under the city code provision cited at the meeting (Section 5‑7‑190), the council opened nominations for mayor pro tem. Jay Arrowood was nominated, a motion to close nominations passed, and Arrowood accepted; the council voted by roll call to elect him mayor pro tem.
Clerk roll-call confirmations were recorded for each vote. Where indicated in the meeting record, votes were affirmative with no recorded oppositions for the nominations and election.
