Washoe County School Board elects Adam Mayberry president; Alex Woodley vice president, Christine Hall clerk

The Washoe County School District Board of Trustees elected new officers for 2026 at its Jan. 13 regular meeting.
Trustees unanimously selected Adam Mayberry as board president. The nominating sequence began when Trustee Colleen Westlake proposed Clerk Alex Woodley; Woodley declined and instead nominated Vice President Adam Mayberry. Trustee James (JJ) Phoenix moved to elect Mayberry; the motion was seconded and carried 7–0.
Trustees then elected Alex Woodley to serve as vice president. Trustee Westlake nominated Woodley and he accepted; Christine Hall moved the nomination, which passed unanimously. At the same time the board elected Trustee Christine Hall as clerk following a nomination from Trustee Diane Nicolette and brief public comment in support.
The reorganization concluded with a ceremonial recess and the incoming officers taking their seats for the remainder of the meeting. No contested ballots or abstentions were recorded.
The new leadership will preside over the district’s upcoming work session and the regular meeting scheduled for Jan. 27, when the board expects to discuss the district’s budget.
