Del City council approves budget amendment, vehicle and street contracts; accepts $1,000 Walmart donation

Del City Council approved a series of routine consent and procurement items during its Jan. 5 meeting, including a budget amendment and multiple purchases for public works and municipal services.
In unanimous votes, the council approved a budget amendment for fiscal year 2025–26 and a blanket purchase order for postage with DPM Group in the amount of $15,000 for utility bills, termination notices and final bills. The council also voted to buy one 2026 Ford F-450 Super Duty from Bob Moore Ford under statewide contract SW0035 for an amount not to exceed $77,708, with authorization for the trust chair or trust manager to endorse the documents. Council members said staff had reviewed the vehicle application and that the truck met operational needs.
Council approved a contract with Action Safety Supply (statewide contract SW776) to remove and replace existing street striping on Southeast 29th Street between Sunny Lane and Bryant for an amount not to exceed $45,820.84. Staff said potholes and other localized repairs along the route will be addressed before striping begins; officials discussed managing striping on a five-year rotation for arterial streets.
The council approved a smaller purchase for 15 GPS-only gateway licenses under statewide contract SW1021CD for the Streets and Drainage Division for an amount not to exceed $1,728, authorizing the mayor to endorse the contract as presented on the agenda.
The council accepted a $1,000 donation from Walmart Incorporated to the Del City Police Department general fund for community support. Councilman Brown abstained from that vote; other members voted aye. City staff said the donation was presented at the store opening and was intended to support police/community activities at the chief’s discretion.
The meeting also included the approval of Resolution 01052026, authorizing compromise settlement and entry of judgment for a workers’ compensation claim (case CM320230325P) per cited Oklahoma statutes and the Oklahoma Constitution; council authorized the mayor and city attorney to proceed with payment upon completion of settlement releases.
The council adjourned after receiving the quarter-two financial summary and scheduling reminders for holiday closures and upcoming events.
