House chamber refurbishment highlighted; contractors and GBA recognized

The presiding officer used opening remarks to recognize the Georgia Building Authority (GBA) and a large team of contractors who completed an extensive refurbishment of the House chamber. Gerald Pilgrim, introduced as deputy executive director and chief of staff for the GBA team, addressed the chamber and thanked staff, contractors and legislators for support during the project.

Pilgrim described the scope and some project facts: "This team represents over 500 employees that worked on this project and over 400,000 man hours preparing and executing this project." He said the chamber used American‑made carpet and, notably, Georgia‑made carpet from Dalton for the first time in the Capitol's history, and that the HVAC system in the chamber dated from the late 1950s and was replaced.

Leadership thanked the GBA, the contractors (named in remarks) and individuals who led design and construction. Members applauded the team for completing the work on budget. Pilgrim and others noted the project relied on many local firms and specialty trades.

Next steps: a short project video was shown and GBA representatives remained in the chamber for recognition; members were asked to convey thanks to the project teams.
