LaSalle Countys Finance and TIF Committee met Jan. 12 and approved routine items including previous minutes and department bills. Chair Tina Bush opened the meeting, the body allowed one member to join by Webex and then moved through standard approvals by voice vote.
An auditor reported that an Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) audit of probation and grant services showed "no findings," and that Chuck Goodwins departmental audit was likewise satisfactory. The auditor noted that outside auditors will conduct final field work the week of Feb. 8.
Technology and accessibility changes were raised for committees that stream meetings to YouTube: committee members were told new closed-captioning/transcription rules expected in spring will require speakers to announce their names and district before speaking on the record (for example, "Tina Bush, District 29"). Staff will add that requirement to committee agendas and provide guidance to members.
The committee also discussed iFiber project finances; a contingent tax-return refund is pending from the IRS and will be split among four parties once received, which will release remaining project funds. Members briefly noted generator paperwork downtown is still in process.
Finally, staff travel and training were discussed: Finance Director Davis may attend in-state conferences in Springfield late February and in summer; committee members said they would revisit travel approvals as dates approach.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn that carried by voice vote.
