Panama City staff and commissioners confirmed a housing roundtable scheduled for next week in County Building Community Room 1030 at 4:30 p.m., designed as a focused, informational roundtable for elected officials and invited housing partners rather than a public comment forum.
City staff said organizers expect roughly nine to ten organizations to present for about three minutes each. Confirmed participants include Habitat for Humanity and Arc of the Bay; organizers are following up with Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, Anchorage Children’s Home, Doorways and Bay County Housing. The city will circulate a draft agenda to commissioners by close of business the day after the workshop announcement.
The Florida Housing Coalition will attend and provide key takeaways at the end of the session and is expected to present a ‘‘local policy toolkit’’ and discuss the role of a housing needs assessment during subsequent roundtables. Commissioners discussed keeping the first session as an expert roundtable without public comment to allow organizations and elected officials to exchange perspectives, with the possibility of scheduling a later town‑hall for public input.
Commissioners asked staff to standardize questions for presenters so replies can be compared across organizations and to circulate written answers to the group. Staff said the first roundtable will likely generate follow‑up tasks for both staff and outside groups and recommended scheduling a second roundtable about 4–5 weeks later for updates.
