The Simsbury Board of Education voted Monday to approve three personnel items presented by district staff.
The board accepted the retirement of Kate Cristalini, a French teacher at Simsbury High School, effective June 30, 2026. The board also accepted the resignation of Tara Daley, a special-education hire who left for a position in Massachusetts; the resignation was effective Dec. 23, 2025. Finally, the board approved a guaranteed leave of absence for art teacher Sarah Grant from Feb. 2, 2026 through June 30, 2027 and agreed to guarantee her position upon return.
Each item was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; no recorded roll-call tallies were provided in the meeting transcript. Presenters described Cristalini’s 15 years in Simsbury and 38 total years in education, Daley’s short four-month tenure and Grant’s leave under district parental-leave policy. The board offered public thanks to the departing teachers and expressed support for Grant’s return-to-work guarantee.
The motions were routine personnel business and will be reflected in the district’s personnel records and future staffing plans.
